COMMON SEWER & DRAIN PROBLEMS
Signs You May Need a Sewer Camera Inspection
Some sewer and drain problems cannot be accurately diagnosed from the surface. Recurring backups, slow drains, unusual odors and repeated clogs can all point to an issue deeper inside the line.
Drain Bros provides professional sewer camera inspections throughout Pittsburgh and the South Hills to help identify what is happening inside drain and sewer piping before recommending the next step.
Repeated Drain Clogs
When the same drain or section of piping keeps clogging, an inspection can help locate the source instead of repeatedly treating the symptom.
Recurring Sewer Backups
If a sewer line continues backing up after previous cleaning, a camera inspection can help determine whether buildup, roots or pipe damage is contributing to the problem.
Unusual Sewer Odors
Persistent sewer odors may be connected to a blockage, damaged piping or another condition inside the line that should be investigated.
Multiple Slow Drains
Several fixtures draining slowly at the same time can indicate a restriction deeper in the main drain or sewer line.
Suspected Tree Root Intrusion
Roots can enter sewer lines through cracks and failed joints. A camera inspection can help show where intrusion is occurring and how much of the line is affected.
Concerns About Pipe Damage
Cracks, collapsed sections, separated joints and deteriorating pipe can all cause recurring drainage problems that may not be visible without a camera inspection.
A sewer camera inspection gives Drain Bros a clearer view of the condition of the line so we can identify the problem and recommend the appropriate cleaning, repair or replacement solution.

PROFESSIONAL SEWER CAMERA INSPECTION
Sewer Camera Inspection in Pittsburgh That Shows What’s Actually Happening Inside the Line
When the problem is hidden underground or inside a drain line, a camera inspection gives us a direct look at what is causing it.
Recurring backups, slow drains and repeated clogs can all point to a problem deeper in the plumbing system. Instead of guessing, Drain Bros uses professional sewer camera equipment to inspect the inside of drain and sewer lines and identify what is actually there.
The camera can help reveal root intrusion, heavy buildup, separated joints, cracks, damaged pipe and other conditions that may be contributing to the problem. It also helps us determine where the issue is located and whether cleaning, repair or replacement makes the most sense.
By seeing the condition of the line before recommending work, we can make a more informed decision about the next step and avoid unnecessary digging or repair whenever possible.
See Inside the Sewer Line
A professional camera gives us a real-time view of the inside of the piping so hidden problems can be identified more accurately.
Locate the Problem Area
Camera equipment helps narrow down where blockages, roots or pipe damage are occurring instead of treating the entire line as the problem.
Determine the Right Next Step
Once the condition of the line is visible, we can recommend the appropriate drain cleaning, hydro jetting, repair or replacement service.
OUR CAMERA INSPECTION PROCESS
How We Inspect Drain & Sewer Lines
A sewer camera inspection gives us a direct view inside the line so we can understand what is causing the problem before recommending the next step.
Drain Bros uses professional camera equipment designed to travel through drain and sewer piping while sending a live video feed back to the technician. This allows us to inspect areas that would otherwise be hidden underground or behind walls.
As the camera moves through the line, we look for signs of buildup, root intrusion, cracked or deteriorated pipe, separated joints, collapsed sections and other conditions that may be affecting drainage.
Once the inspection is complete, we can explain what we found and recommend the appropriate service based on the actual condition of the line.
Access the Drain or Sewer Line
We enter the piping through an available cleanout or other appropriate access point so the camera can travel through the line.
Inspect the Interior of the Pipe
The camera provides a real-time view of the inside of the line, helping us identify blockages, roots, damage and other visible issues.
Review the Findings & Recommend the Next Step
After the inspection, we use what we found to determine whether the line needs cleaning, hydro jetting, repair, replacement or another service.

SEWER CAMERA INSPECTION FAQ
Pittsburgh Sewer Camera Inspection Questions
Get answers about sewer camera inspections, recurring backups, hidden pipe problems, root intrusion and what to expect when Drain Bros inspects a drain or sewer line.
What can a sewer camera inspection find?
A sewer camera inspection can help identify visible problems inside the line, including heavy buildup, root intrusion, cracks, separated joints, deteriorating pipe and other conditions that may be affecting drainage.
When should I schedule a sewer camera inspection?
A camera inspection may be useful when you have recurring sewer backups, repeated clogs, multiple slow drains, suspected root intrusion or a problem that keeps returning after previous cleaning.
Can a sewer camera inspection locate the exact problem?
It can help narrow down where a visible issue is occurring inside the line. The inspection allows the technician to follow the piping and identify the area where blockages, roots or damage appear.
Do I need a sewer camera inspection before hydro jetting?
Not every hydro jetting job requires one, but a camera inspection can be helpful when there are concerns about pipe condition, root intrusion or repeated sewer problems. It can help determine whether high-pressure cleaning is appropriate.
Can a sewer camera inspection tell if my sewer line needs repaired?
It can provide important visual information about the condition of the line. If the camera shows cracks, failed joints, collapsed sections or other significant damage, Drain Bros can use those findings to help determine whether repair or replacement should be considered.
Will a sewer camera inspection fix the blockage?
No. The inspection is a diagnostic service. If we find a blockage, buildup or damaged section of pipe, we can then recommend the appropriate service, such as drain cleaning, hydro jetting or sewer line repair.
